May Social: Elm Grove Memorial Day Parade Party
May 30, 2022 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM

After a two year Covid hiatus, John & Jeanne Allen's Elm Grove Memorial Day parade party is back!  John & Jeanne Allen's home is located directly on the parade route.

The parade starts at 10:30 am but streets are closed prior to the parade start time.  Therefore, come early (i.e., 9:30-9:45-ish) to beat the traffic, find a parking space and chat with fellow Rotarians.

This is a great family oriented social so bring the kids and grandkids along with a blanket or lawn chair.  Other family and friends are welcome too.

When the parade is over (around 11:30 am) stay for a cookout!

Walk for Hope - September 17, 2022 - Mitchell Park
Sep 17, 2022 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Join Elmbrook Rotary as we Walk for Hope supporting Common Hope's programs in Guatemala.

We walk because less than 20% of kids graduate from high school in Guatemala. We walk to support education for students living in poverty, so that they can graduate and help end generational poverty for their family. We walk for the kids just starting school, where they will likely hold a book for the first time. We walk so families have access to quality health care. We walk to help young people dream, grow, and succeed.

Now more than ever, all of us appreciate the Power of Healthcare, Community and Hope. Let's walk the Extra Mile to fight poverty with diplomas!

Each $1,200 we raise sponsors a student and their family for one year.

Support our team by going to our fundraising page (event link on left); or just join us for a refreshing and healthy walk.

Volunteer Opportunity - Steins for Scouting
Oct 01, 2022 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM

The Potawatomi Area Council of Scouting is having an event at the Waukesha County Airport on October 1, 2022. This is an opportunity for Elmbrook Rotarians to volunteer in a fun community service activity.

The day will start with pancakes and sausage, with activities forcused on Scouting youth and their activitites. The Scouts will have opportunities to work on requirements for merit badges (important steps on the road to Eagle Scout) as well as become a Young Eagle by taking a ride in an airplane.

The afternoon will be Airtoberfest, with German and rock bands, dancers, and various games of strength and skill.

Several Elmbrook Rotarians are members of the Council's Executive Board (Consiglio, Curl, Farchmin, Hochuli, Schmeling, Winkelhake). In fact, our own Tony Consigilio is making customized sausage for the event.

Volunteers are needed starting at 7 a.m. and running until 9 p.m.

Jobs will include directing traffic, grilling, serving food, selling tickets, setting up, decorations, helping with games, arranging tables/chairs, etc.

Volunteers get in free for either/both the morning and afternoon segments. Tickets for other family/freinds are $15 for adults and $5 for kids. Everyone is welcome.

To encourage attendance, the first 10 Elmbrook Rotarians who purchase an adult ticket for a spouse/friend will receive a free companion adult ticket. So, volunteers will get in free and can bring two ther people for $15.

Questions: Contact Tom Curl at (414) 732-4072 or Assistant Scout Executive Connie Jadowski at (262) 436-8419.

Join the Rotary Straight Shooters for our monthly outing as we enjoy an evening of Sporting Clays on Thursday, October 20. We'll partake in Rotary fellowship and comradery while breaking clay targets at the Waukesha Gun Club. We meet at 4:30 p.m. in the clubhouse and then proceed to one of the two courses. Sporting clays is very much like golf with a shogun. We walk the course and shoot from stands positioned around the course that throw clay targets in a variety of presentations. Unlike golf, however, higher scores are preferred.

Feel free to bring your friends. Anyone new to shooting is welcome. We’ll have seasoned shooters to coach and help you out. We have a couple new shooters who have taken up and are enjoying the sport.

If you don’t have a shotgun, contact Harry Farchmin, and we’ll arrange for one of our members to bring one for you to use or you can rent one at the club. Shot shells are available for purchase at the club.

After shooting, we’ll gather at a nearby establishment for some refreshments and food.
