Clean-up of Underwood Creek and the Village Park
Apr 22, 2023 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Would you or your children like to get involved in keeping Elm Grove a beautiful place? We could use your help with our semi-annual clean-up of Underwood Creek and the Village Park on Saturday April 22 from 10am - noon! This effort is part of the Milwaukee Riverkeeper (milwaukeeriverkeeper.org) Adopt A River Program.
The small creek that runs through the Village is part of the Milwaukee River basin. The entire basin is being restored to a natural state and Salmon have already been spotted just south of Sendiks!
If we can do our part by removing litter and plastic debris it will greatly contribute to a healthy, thriving ecosystem not only in the park but in the entire Village.
Everyone is welcome, and no experience is needed. Most of the cleanup will be along the shore of the creek. Gloves and trash bags will be provided.
Anyone who owns waders and is comfortable entering the stream is encouraged to do so, but entering the stream is not required.
Come and join us and see the Village from a whole new perspective!
At 11:45 we will have a drone photo of the group with all the trash collected by the “Monet Bridge” in the park.
Immediately following the cleanup is a family friendly Watershed Workshop in the basement of Village hall that is being put on by Southeast Wisconsin Watershed Trust!

Adopt A Trail Clean Up
Jun 10, 2023

The Fox River Trail that ERC has taken responsibility for runs from Brookfield Rd. (by the soon to be completed coffee shop) to the intersection of Barker Rd. and North Ave. This is just over a mile.

The task we have is to clean out invasive species along the trail. This time of year the garlic mustard plants are in bloom and easy to spot with their bright yellow "flower".

I need to see how many members are willing to spend 2-3 hours (depending on how many people we have) pulling and bagging the garlic mustard on Saturday morning May 27th.

Pulling garlic mustard is pretty easy so bring the spouse and the kids to help out in the project.

Please respond to danroads21@gmail,com if you can make
Saturday May 27 to help out. The more help we have the faster we can complete the job. If we need to push the date back then the yellow flower will be gone which makes the job a lot harder, not to mention not nearly as effective as when the flower is in bloom.

Adopt A Highway Clean Up
Jun 10, 2023 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM
The Greenfield Ave. portion is Adopt-A- Highway and is an approximate 2 mile stretch of highway from Barker Rd.
to Hwy 164.  We are looking for 6 volunteers to pick up trash alongside the highway. This will require an approximate
1 mile walk from the parking area on one side of the highway and then the return 1 mile trip on the other side of the highway.
There would be two teams of 3 people covering the portion of the highway we are responsible for. The volunteers will be walking on the side of the highway, on grass and with a slight change in elevation. An hour and half time commitment is projected.

If you're interested, please come to the backyard of Wellpoint by the playground with a rake  or hoe and be prepared to get your hands dirty and maybe eat a burger or hot dog.

we'll need 5-10 folks.

D6270 & D6250 Shooting Fellowships Clays Outing
Jun 15, 2023 4:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Join the District 6250 & District 6270 Shooting Sports Fellowships for a special joint outing organized by the Elmbrook Rotary Straightshooters and the Shooting Sports Fellowship of the Rotary Club of Madison. We will enjoy an evening of shooting Sporting Clays on Wednesday, June 15 at the scenic Milford Hills Hunt Club. Enjoy Rotary fellowship and comradery and share experiences with other Rotarians while breaking clay targets.

We will meet at 4:25 p.m. in the Milford Hills Trading Post and then proceed to one of the courses. Sporting clays is very much like golf with a shogun. We walk the course and shoot from stands positioned around the course that throw clay targets in a variety of presentations. However, unlike golf, higher scores are preferred.

Shot shells are availiable for purchase in the Milford Hills Trading Post.

After shooting, we’ll gather for some refreshments and enjoy dinner in the Milford Hills Pub.

Please rsvp to Harry Farchmin so we know how many shooters to plan for.

Rotary Straight Shooters - July 20 Clays Outing
Jul 20, 2023 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Join the Rotary Straight Shooters for our monthly outing on Thursday, July 20. We'll enjoy fellowship and comradery while breaking clay targets from one of two Sporting Clays Courses at the Waukesha Gun Club. If the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll shoot 5-Stand from one of the heated and covered houses. Sporting Clays is very much like golf with a shotgun; except the goal is to get higher scores instead of lower. We will walk the course and shoot various target presentations form stands along the way.

We will meet at 4:30 p.m. in the clubhouse to check-in and then proceed to one of the two courses.

Guests and anyone new to shooting are welcome. We'll have seasoned members there to coach and help you.

After shooting, we’ll gather at a nearby establishment for socializing, refreshments, and food.
