Spikes History

SPIKES has been successful for 35 years because of the generosity and involvement of businesses, individuals, youth/students, and Rotarians that have helped raise more than $1 million since it began, money that has funded worthy causes and programs in Brookfield, Elm Grove, Southeast Wisconsin, and even internationally. Started in 1988 as 'Spikes for Tykes', it initially benefited Polio Plus, a Rotary International initiative to eradicate polio worldwide. Proceeds expanded to the Child Abuse Prevention Fund, the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, and now includes numerous charitable causes. View the most recent listing of organizations that have benefited from donations to SPIKES.

Harry Farchmin and Karl Schulz, Family Fest chair & co-chair, thank everyone who will be involved this year, from sponsors to volleyball players to day-of-event participants, to make the 38th annual Rotary Event a huge success.

WHERE DO THE TEAMS COME FROM?

For a minimum sponsorship of $250, your business, organization, or group is eligible to field one playing team. Sponsors who donate $250 or greater also have the option to forego fielding their own volleyball playing team in lieu of sponsoring a youth playing team from Brookfield Central HS, Brookfield East HS, Scouts, and faith-based youth groups, or Event activities, such as, the Bounce House, Climbing Wall and, Bags Tournament.

Family Fest funds come from major sponsorships, individual donations, concessions proceeds, and a day-of-event raffle.
