As the last meeting before the unofficial end of summer and the long Labor Day weekend, Club members were looking forward to everything from a Backyard BBQ and Pig Roast, an upcoming wedding in Lake Geneva, trips to Door County, and the opening of the College Football Season, among other things. Highlights included:

  • We inducted our newest member - Chris Salani who was sponsored by Vedran Rimarcuk and works for Global Fastener & Supply. Between his joining the club and Peter Meyer joining recently, they've lowered the median age of our club considerably!
  • We heard Classification Talks from newer members Casimir Laska and Erik Bergstrom with Erik giving what was probably the first (and what will likely be the only) Powerpoint presentation for his talk. Look for their background stories in the coming week.
  • Kathy Becker reported on the success of the School Supplies donated for Capitol West Academy over the past week which included $290 in cash. Kathy also mentioned that our Tutoring program will be starting in a few weeks at CWA.
  • Ralph Gould received his second Paul Harris award that was supposed to have been awarded at the Changing of the Guard last June. Apparently there’s another Rotarian in the world named Ralph Gould who received the award instead. Thanks to Bill Isbister for his keen detective work.
  • The meeting was our quarterly Club Assembly and current Vocational Service Committee Chair, Dan Roads and Community Service Committee Chair, Mike Schmeling gave their reports to members on planned activities and events for the coming year.

Next week’s meeting will feature a talk by Michele and Jim Wallace on their Medical Mission to Peru. We’ll also be inducting another new member and have remaining talks by Committee Chairs who weren't able to provide updates at last week’s Club Assembly.
