Recently the Club received two excellent presentations from the Brookfield East Launch and Beast Rototics programs, at our Friday morning Sunrise meetings. Launch was presented by Bob Hall, Executive Director, and Beast Mentor Richard Oakes, along with senior Ayush from the team.
The Launch Program at Brookfield East High School is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world professional experiences. Through innovative partnerships, hands-on projects, and career-focused learning, students gain the skills and insights needed to thrive beyond high school. This program provides students with:
  • Career Exploration
  • Project-based Learning
  • Mentorship
  • Internships
  • College and Career Readiness
This program provides an enhanced understanding of potential career paths and industry, and the development of professional skills relevant to the modern workforce.
Bob and his team of mentors have given Launch students inspiration, and a head start in a path to a future of exciting possibilities.
Beast Robotics is an educational and extracurricular program based at Brookfield East High School, designed to inspire and empower students through hands-on experiences in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The program introduces students to the fundamentals of robotics, engineering, programming, and teamwork, preparing them for future careers and fostering a passion for innovation.
This program:
  • Encourages creativity and problem-solving through robotics challenges.
  • Develops technical skills in engineering, coding, and design.
  • Promotes collaboration, leadership, and effective communication among team members.
  • Engages with the local community and industry partners to support STEM education.
Beast provides a competitive team that participates in regional, state, and national robotics competitions, such as FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and VEX Robotics. The teams has won four state competitions with three awards; the Chairman’s Award, Woddie Flowers Finalist Award, and the First Impact Award.
Students work in small groups, each focusing on specific aspects of the robot, such as mechanical design, electrical systems, software programming, and project management.

Thank you, Bob, Richard, Volunteers, and team students Ayush, Audrey and Johnathan for sharing you’re your stories and accomplishments of these two great Elmbrook School programs.
