At a recent Club Meeting, former Club President Mark Thurner announced that The Wisconsin Leaders of Tomorrow (WLT) – Elmbrook Chapter is seeking nominations for student leaders for the 2014-2015 competition. As many of you know, Mark along with other Elmbrook Rotarians currently serve on the WLT Board and many Club Members have taken part in this process over the years.  The deadline for nominations that need to be turned into school representatives is Friday, January 9, 2015.
 
WLT – Elmbrook Chapter is an affiliate of International Leadership Network (ILN) based in St. Louis, Missouri. International Leadership Network is a not-for-profit, 501(c) 3 organization established in 1990 and ILN’s mission states that it serves advocates for youth recognition, leadership education, and students at-risk.  The Elmbrook chapter focuses on leadership recognition for students in grade 11. WLT – Elmbrook Chapter is also a community organization that is endorsed by the schools in the community. They place a strong emphasis on student leadership and Board members are representatives from service organizations in the area, with liaison representation from private and public schools.

In seeking Nominations for 2014-2015, the criteria for student leader nominations is as follows. Keep in mind, this process is for current high school juniors and it is not an academic program. Please nominate a student leader in grade 11 who:
  • Has a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Is an exemplary school citizen with a good record of school attendance.
  • Holds a position of leadership (in the school or community) to which he/she was elected by his/her peers  -or-  holds a position of leadership (in the school or community) to which he/she was appointed by an adult leader.
  • Attends private or public school in the Elmbrook community  -or-  Resides in the Elmbrook community and attends public or private school outside of the community or is home-schooled.
Students selected as Leaders of Tomorrow will be given the opportunity to participate in the following program requirements:
  • Develop a Leadership Resume.
  • Write a “Social Challenge” essay.
  • Participate in a formal interview with business leaders of the community.  
  • Be photographed for the Wisconsin Leaders of Tomorrow display.
  • Participate in a leadership workshop.
  • Attend the Wisconsin Leaders of Tomorrow Awards Program.
  • Compete for the opportunity to attend a national leadership workshop and other local awards.
You may nominate as many students as you feel meet the qualifications of a Leader of Tomorrow.
