Our Green Bay Packer Ticket Raffle Fundraiser is Back!

Looking for a chance to WIN tickets to a Green Bay home game during the 2019 season - and help needy organizations and causes at the same time? Club President Mike Schmeling is urging everyone to do their part in buying and selling Packer raffle tickets during our 5th Annual Green Bay Packer Raffle Ticket Fundraiser from now through August 30! Donations will go to the programs and organizations we support in Brookfield, Elm Grove, and around the world!

The Packer season is fast approaching, and this is a great way for our club to raise additional funds that will benefit the programs and organizations we contribute to (including Capitol West Academy, Food Pantry of Waukesha County, Literary Services of Wisconsin, The Women's Center, and more)! Information and tickets will be available at our Friday morning meetings throughout August AND at the Brookfield Farmers' Market on Saturday's throughout August.

Selling tickets is easy!

See the attached information for sharing with your friends, family, neighbors, and business associates OR help out and volunteer at one of the Saturday's in August at the Brookfield Farmers' Market!

Sell as many as you can!

Tickets are $10 each with 3 tickets for $25, 10 tickets for $50, and 25 tickets for $100. Winners will be drawn at our meeting on August 30, with one winner (or 2 tickets) for each of the eight home games this season. Winners will be notified and posted online at our website.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 after costs; so let’s all GO FOR THE GREEN & GOLD this summer! Watch for updates at our upcoming meetings. If you have any questions, please contact Steve Stocker (sstocker@affirmagency.com).

Wisconsin Leadership Seminars
Sarah Perkins and two other reps from the Wisconsin Leadership Seminars (WILS) visited Elmbrook Rotary on Friday, August 2, and provided an update on their organization. For many years Elmbrook Rotary has provided the registration fee for three students from Elmbrook Central H.S. and Elmbrook East H.S. to participate in the WILS program. Click here to see the recipients of the $68,415 charitable amounts provided by ERC during the 2018-2019 Rotary Year.

Sarah Perkins is the Student Placement Coordinator at UW-Milwaukee. She is also an alumna of the WILS program and has been a volunteer with the organization for over 20 years. She has served as a member of the junior and adult seminar staffs, the Director of Programs for the seminar, Alumni Association Adviser and member of Corporate Board of Directors. Meeting amazing young leaders through WILS year after year keeps her inspired and motivates her to keep her energy levels up to keep up with their drive and enthusiasm!

WILS identifies outstanding high school sophomores throughout Wisconsin for being responsible citizens in their community and/or school and provide them with the opportunity and encouragement to recognize their leadership potential. It fulfills this mission through an annual 3-day leadership seminar that is provided at no cost to the students or schools. WILS encourages leadership development through emphasis on the four pillars of ResponsibilityServiceInclusiveness, & Decision Making.

Join Elmbrook Rotary any Friday at 7:00 a.m. (Western Racket Club in Elm Grove, WI) for breakfast and the opportunity to learn about WILS and other organizations throughout Wisconsin, the Midwest, and the world.

RI Presidential Theme for 2019-2020
A new Rotary year began on July 1. The Rotary International Presidential Theme for 2019-2020 is "Rotary Connects the World."

Mark Daniel Maloney (Rotary Club of Decatur, Alabama, USA) is RI President for 2019-2020 and believes that connection is at the heart of the Rotary experience. “(Rotary) allows us to connect with each other, in deep and meaningful ways, across our differences,” Maloney says. “It connects us to people we would never otherwise have met, who are more like us than we ever could have known. It connects us to our communities, to professional opportunities, and to the people who need our help.”

Rotarians in RI District 3350 (Thailand) have produced an interesting song & video that connects the 2019-2020 Presidential Theme with the work and impact of Rotary worldwide. Click here or on the image below to view and hear the production. It is only 3 min. 29 sec. in length.

ERC Fireside Chats Resume
After a rather long hiatus, the Fireside Chat has resumed at Elmbrook Rotary. The fireside chat is a tradition that has endured as a fun, welcoming social activity that provides new members with a history of Rotary and an explanation of the various opportunities for involvement.  This is an informal way to learn about community and international projects and find common interests.

The first renewed Fireside Chat occurred in the home of Mark Thurner on Wednesday evening, June 19. Several more have occurred since that date. Participants learn much about the programs and activities of Elmbrook Rotary Club in addition to those of District 6270, Rotary International, and The Rotary Foundation.

Fireside Chats are scheduled periodically. If you have never attended a Fireside Chat, please contact ERC member John Allen to add your name to the guest list. You won't regret it.
At ELMBROOK ROTARY - We Rise & Shine!

When we say "WE RISE & SHINE” to others, it means:
  • WE RISE to meet early every Friday.
  • WE RISE to the occasion by helping those in need.
  • WE RISE to make a difference in our community and the world.

  • WE SHINE by living the Rotary 4-way Test.
  • WE SHINE by staying positive and encouraging others.
  • WE SHINE by lighting the way for service above self in Brookfield, Elm Grove, and beyond.
The tagline appears on our Coffee Mugs, on our Web site, on club emails, and on other communications going out. Try using the tagline the next time you’re talking to someone about Elmbrook Rotary or Rotary in general. In fact, consider purchasing an Elmbrook Rotary Coffee Mug for $7.
