The Fox River Trail that ERC has taken responsibility for runs from Brookfield Rd. (by the soon to be completed coffee shop) to the intersection of Barker Rd. and North Ave. This is just over a mile. The task we have is to clean out invasive species along the trail. This time of year the garlic mustard plants are in bloom and easy to spot with their bright yellow "flower". I need to see how many members are willing to spend 2-3 hours (depending on how many people we have) pulling and bagging the garlic mustard on Saturday morning May 27th. Pulling garlic mustard is pretty easy so bring the spouse and the kids to help out in the project. Please respond to danroads21@gmail,com if you can make |

Jun. 10, 2023 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
The Greenfield Ave. portion is Adopt-A- Highway and is an approximate 2 mile stretch of highway from Barker Rd.
to Hwy 164. We are looking for 6 volunteers to pick up trash alongside the highway. This will require an approximate
1 mile walk from the parking area on one side of the highway and then the return 1 mile trip on the other side of the highway.
There would be two teams of 3 people covering the portion of the highway we are responsible for. The volunteers will be walking on the side of the highway, on grass and with a slight change in elevation. An hour and half time commitment is projected.

Join the District 6250 & District 6270 Shooting Sports Fellowships for a special joint outing organized by the Elmbrook Rotary Straightshooters and the Shooting Sports Fellowship of the Rotary Club of Madison. We will enjoy an evening of shooting Sporting Clays on Wednesday, June 15 at the scenic Milford Hills Hunt Club. Enjoy Rotary fellowship and comradery and share experiences with other Rotarians while breaking clay targets. We will meet at 4:25 p.m. in the Milford Hills Trading Post and then proceed to one of the courses. Sporting clays is very much like golf with a shogun. We walk the course and shoot from stands positioned around the course that throw clay targets in a variety of presentations. However, unlike golf, higher scores are preferred. Shot shells are availiable for purchase in the Milford Hills Trading Post. After shooting, we’ll gather for some refreshments and enjoy dinner in the Milford Hills Pub. Please rsvp to Harry Farchmin so we know how many shooters to plan for. |

Our next cleanup date will be August 26th, 2023 . If you are interested in volunteering, but August 26th does not work for you, there will be another fall cleanup between late September and mid-October.
Please reply back to me whether you can make the August 26th date for sure. We also need 2 team leaders for the day, mainly to assist with gathering information to be reported to the DOT after the cleanup.. Please let me know if you are willing to fill that role. I will be supplying some detail about the logistics the week of the cleanup. The time commitment is fairly short. You should be prepared to walk about 2 miles and the only thing you need is a good pair of shoes for walking in the grass and a pair of gloves. We have all of the trash bags, safety vests, and supplies that are needed.
Again, please respond with an indication whether you can make it on August 26th.
Best Regards,
Chris Salani |

Good Afternoon Rotarians,
Sandy Wysocki and I are organizing a hands on project for the Guest House. The Guest House provides shelter and assistance to men, including veterans, that are experiencing homelessness as well as an intensive recovery program for substance abuse and mental health issues.
In addition, they provide approximately 300-400 sandwiches daily to shelter guests and others in need in the community. Their goal is to have sandwiches available to all those in need each day of the year.
What we would like to do, is have Rotarians make sandwiches at home and bring them to our meeting on Friday, Oct. 6th. After the meeting, we will take them down to the shelter in Milwaukee.
It is a rather simple process:
1. Make sandwich with bread, meat and cheese only. They suggest turkey, ham, roast beef, and PBJ. If making PBJ, please use peanut butter on both slices of bread and jelly in the middle, as this prevents soggy sandwiches.
2. Place sandwich in sealed, zip-top bag to ensure freshness.
3. If using the heel of the bread loaf, please face the outside inward.
We will have a cooler at the entrance of St Camillus to collect the sandwiches before the meeting.
If you would like to participate, please let Sandy or Jeanne know, but it is not absolutely necessary! This could be a fun ongoing project if the club members like it! Plus, any questions, please contact either one of us!
Thank you for your consideration in helping these deserving members of our community.
Sandy and Jeanne

Our Adopt A Highway fall cleanup will be held on October 21, 2023. This is the final cleanup for the year for this program. Please let Paul Langer know if you are available for the cleanup on October 21. This will be in the morning and generally lasts less than 2 hours. It involves a 2-mile leisurely walk and a chance to get to know your fellow Rotarians better as you help to keep our stretch of highway clean. Paul will provide more details closer to the cleanup date, but I would appreciate your early response regarding availability. |
